Nepal Sirmooree 2025

1 With the closure of the 2 GR Trust in June 2024, sadly, this will be the last edition of The Nepal Sirmooree. It has been thirty glorious years since it was first published in Kathmandu in September 1995 as a brief Newsletter, containing only twenty-two pages. Since then, over the years, it has developed to a fine Annual Magazine, very popular amongst the Sirmooris. Thanks to all those visionary Sirmooris who sowed the seeds of the magazine. Since it was to be the last edition, the SCN Central Committee decided to make it a special Souvenir Magazine with photos covering the SCN activities of the past thirty years and also the photos that captured our moments and days in the Regiment. I am truly grateful to those Sirmooris who provided me with a wide range of fascinating photos from the Regimental days, the SCN Branch Chairman and Reps for the Delhi Day celebration photos. But above all and in particular, I am indebted to Maj Yam Saheb, who supplied me with such captivating photos in such a large quantity, not only featuring the three Sirmoor Durbars but also the early days of the Sirmoor Club Nepal. Due to the large number of photos (625), it wasn’t possible to caption each and every photo, therefore only ‘special’ photos have been captioned, so that people can recognize their Numberies, Gurujis and Pl/Coy members with whom they served together. Mistakes are inevitable but I hope the readers will appreciate the effort and time I have had put together to make the magazine as good as possible. As in the past years, the advice that I received from the three Sahebs; Capt Bharat Singh Thapa Chhetri, Maj Yambahadur Gurung and Capt Karnabahadur Thapa, have been invaluable. I remain most grateful and indebted to them, as ever. I am hopeful that Sirmooris will find the last edition of The Nepal Sirmooree as interesting as the previous editions, a magazine that will be treasured for the rest of our lives.
