SCN had two quarterly meetings in Pokhara and a quarterly and an AGM in Kathmandu. Now that the Trust has closed we will be holding fewer zoom or viber group meetings whenever there is something of importance for discussion and dissemination to our veterans in Nepal and India. You will see from the 2 GR Stats and Pension Type we still have 2210 service pensioners and 60 welfare pensioners out of a total 0f 7022. In the ten years, 2012/13 to 2021/22, on average we lost 77.8 veterans per year. The figure is bound to go up when we work out the stats for the last 2 and half years. It has been a very sad year for the Sirmooris. We sadly lost two legendary GurkhaMajors, Jiwanbahadur RanaMVO and Haribahadur Gurung MVOMBE, both ex 2nd Bn, within a space of two months. They both had attended the 167th Delhi Day on 14th September in Kathmandu. Maj Jiwan Saheb had been in a wheel chair for around three years but Maj Hari Saheb looked normal and had left for the US on 23rd September to meet his son and his family in Seattle, USA, when he fell ill en route and passed away in a hospital in North Carolina. His body was repatriated to Nepal We always make it a point of meeting our British Officers when they are in Nepal. Col Nick Hinton was in Nepal last November and met Sirmoori veterans in Pokhara and Kathmandu. He and Major David Thomas met Sirmooris the previous year also when they were in Nepal and so did the President Brigadier Ian Rigden over the Christmas the same year. This is going to be our last magazine and here I wish to thank all who have helped the SCN throughout since 1995 when the first edition came out, especially Hikmat Bhai, Editor, who went into great pains to make this last special Souvenir Magazine what it is now.
