This Day in History: 1897-09-14

The 40th anniversary of Delhi Day was celebrated by the 1st Battalion with the 3rd Goorkhas at Fort Lockhart on the Samana Range. Messages were received from Sir Charles Reid (who had commanded the Regiment at Delhi), Lord Roberts and other ‘old friends‘.

Fort Lockhart, built in 1890, as it was in 1915
