This Day in History: 1898-04-08

Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sweet recalled that on this day Captain Norie shot 4 partridges from an elephant despite having lost his left arm six months previously in the Tirah Expedition. Norie went on to command the 2nd Battalion in France in 1914 and later in the First World War commanded brigades in France, Mesopotamia and India before retiring as a Major General. He was Colonel of the Regiment from 1926-1929.
