Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sweet recalled that on this day Captain Norie shot 4 partridges from an elephant despite having lost his left arm six months previously in the Tirah Expedition.
Norie as a Brigadier General. He commanded the 2nd Battalion in France in 1914 and later in the First World War commanded brigades in France, Mesopotamia and India before retiring as a Major General.
