This Day in History: 1915-02-01

The 2^nd Battalion, in the trenches south-west of Neuve Chapelle in France, were spasmodically shelled by the Germans.  Only one man was wounded.  He had been carrying a container of meat, and to the amusement of those helping him his first words when he came round were “What has become of that meat?
