This Day in History: 1915-03-29
Captain Charles Mullaly wrote to the President of the Mess Committee in Dehra Dun ‘I wish I’d never left Burma [he had been seconded to the Patao Battalion of the Burmese Military Police before joining the 2nd Battalion in France]. I am so badly frightened that my hair is turning rapidly white and all I can do is moan in anguish and hope I will get shot in the bottom by a morphia-covered bullet and get sent home to a pretty nurse’.
