This Day in History: 1918-05-30

The 1st Battalion sent two detachments over 3500m passes to west Persia and the Caspian Sea to assist in establishing a British presence in the area (Persia was nominally neutral but sympathetic to the Germans and Turks while being anti-British and anti-Russian). Some fighting took place, notably in the city of Resht where a force led by Captain McCleverty of the 1st Battalion successfully fought the local garrison.
