This Day in History: 1918-09-07

Captain McCleverty’s column, having marched 90km from just south of Tabriz in 55 hours, arrived at midnight at its new position on the Kuh Mountain Range just south of Mianeh, where it joined two weak platoons of the 1st Battalion, three weak platoons from the 1/4th Hampshire Regiment, and one platoon from the 9th Worcestershire Regiment.  Captain McCleverty handed over command to Lieutenant Colonel Matthews of the 1/4th Hampshire Regiment.  The force was later reinforced by a section of howitzers, a section of 18th pounder guns and a section of mountain guns.
