This Day in History: 1918-09-11

The detachment of two rifle companies commanded by Captain McCleverty came under attack from the Turks and Captain Bucknall was wounded.  Lieutenant Colonel Matthews, the column commander, ordered a withdrawal to Zinjan.  1st Battalion casualties were slight although Subedar Champasing Gurung’s platoon had had 5 men killed during the earlier withdrawal from Tabriz to the positions on the Kuflon Kuh mountain range.
