This Day in History: 1920-10-03
The 3rd Battalion, raised in 1917, was disbanded on completion of its duties in Peshawar, having spent its 3-year existence soldiering on the North-West Frontier of India. Its manpower was distributed to the 1st and 2nd Battalions and other Regiments in the Gurkha Brigade. It was re-raised in 1940 to serve with distinction in the Second World War.
