This Day in History: 1920-10-30

The 1st Battalion War Diary reported from Menzil, in Persia: “Colonel Philipoff of the Cossacks came to interview the Commandant and informed him that 300 Cossacks would leave Menzil that night for Aga Baba and 300 would remain to garrison the town. The Battalion received orders to follow the Cossacks bringing all available Persian hired transport.” The following day it was reported: “The rearguard entered Loshan having been considerably delayed by the Persian hired transport. The only trace of Cossacks was the filthy condition of the buildings in the vicinity.”
