The 1st Battalion War Diary reported from Persia: “At about 2100 hrs two platoons under Captain Bucknall were fired on by about 100 enemy 800m west of Naglebar. After returning fire the Gurkhas then charged. The enemy fled before the bayonet and were followed down the hill for about 600m to the main road. Lance-Naik Kishanbahadur Gurung was killed and Captain Bucknall wounded in the arm, but 9 enemy were killed, 10 wounded and 2 prisoners of war (including one Russian officer) were taken.”
