The Regimental History reported: ‘It was found possible to make a start on much-needed reconstruction of the Regimental Lines – yet not much more than a start, since only a lakh of rupees (Rps100,000) could be extracted from Military Finance. It was decided first to build new Gurkha officers’ quarters and family barracks. [With the funds available] only galvanised iron roofing could be provided.’
