This Day in History: 1936-05-28

The Dehra Dun gossip column Here and There stated: ‘There was a Colonel of the 2nd Goorkhas, whose headquarters are in the Dun, who insisted that any of his officers who wanted a fling in Mussoorie must always walk up and down, but the hard officers of those days didn’t mind the walk at all.  They sent a coolie up with their dress things to what was then known as the Himalaya Club, danced wildly till dawn, and then walked down the hill again in time to be in the Orderly Room by eleven’.
