This Day in History: 1941/12/12
The 2nd Battalion covered the right flank of 11th Indian Division withdrawal, in the face of the Japanese advance, from the Jitra defensive line in Malaya to a new defensive line south of Alor Star. The Battalion withdrew 29km and, exhausted, were told on arrival that the new defensive position had already been abandoned and they withdrew a further 8km to the south of Gurun, described as ‘a wide front and hopelessly undermanned’.
