This Day in History: 1944-09-06
On the night of the 5th September, Captain Ormerod led a strong patrol towards Point 631 on the Gothic Line on the southern slopes of Monte San Giovanni. It was found to be garrisoned by enemy estimated at company strength. Later on the morning of the 6th September, a second patrol from D Company investigated the same area and overran a German outpost, killing three and capturing two Germans.
