This Day in History: 1945-06-06

As a result of Intelligence reports that a large enemy force of approximately 400 strong had left the Pegu Yomas mountains to reoccupy the village of Tanbingon, the 4th Battalion was deployed at dawn to the foothills prior to launching a major operation to seize the village.  D Company (Major N Lockey) was dropped off at Teinhymok about 10 km to the west of Tanbingon, while the rest of the battalion harboured for the night about 4 km to the south of the village.   It was subsequently reported that the enemy had moved part of its force back to the jungle east of Tanbingon.
