This Day in History: 1945-08-15

Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day), marking the unconditional surrender of all Imperial Japanese forces to the Allies. The war against Japan was over. Three of the Regiment’s Battalions had fought against the Japanese, earning the Pacific Star for the campaign in Malaya (2nd Battalion) and the Burma Star (3rd and 4th Battalions).  Click here and here to read accounts of these campaigns.
