This Day in History: 1945-10-10

The 4th Battalion arrived in Saigon to find a volatile situation where lack of manpower had forced the Allies to use Japanese prisoners of war for a wide range of duties. The Nationalists intensified their resistance in advance of the French returning to Indo-China in November.
