This Day in History: 1950-07-11

From 11-19th July, A and B Companies 2nd Battalion, under Major D Spain, with Royal Air Force Regiment reinforcements and 2 Police jungle squads, carried out Operation Peter in South Pahang. They were landed and retrieved by sea and supported by no less than 5 Lincoln bombers, 8 Brigand fighter-bombers, 12 Spitfires, 2 Dakotas and a landing craft. No terrorists were killed although 23 suspects were detained. The operation destroyed the local supply organisation of the terrorists.
