This Day in History: 1965-08-09

A Company of the 1st Battalion under Captain Peter Duffell crossed the border into Indonesia and successfully attacked a camp on the banks of Sungei Agisan, killing an estimated 30 enemy. He was awarded the Military Cross. The Reconnaissance Platoon under Lieutenant Bill Smart accounted for a further 9 in an ambush as they tried to escape.  Click here to read an account of the Regiment’s involvement in the campaign.
