Lady Teignmouth presented to the 2nd Battalion ‘Shore’s gun’, which had been captured in the Battle of Koonja on 3rd October 1824 by her antecedent The Honourable Frederick Shore, the first Superintendent of Dehra Dun. It had been in the possession of the family every since. Lady Teignmouth’s eldest son, Major the Honourable ‘Bunny’ Shore, had been killed in action in Italy in 1944 while serving with the 1st Battalion.
