The US Defence Attache (designate) to Beijing visited the 1st Battalion in Hong Kong and witnessed a Gurkha Corporal on the Senior Leaders Cadre give his orders for a company attack. His comment: “**** soldier, in my army you’d be a goddamn Major!”.
