Delhi Day Celebrations in Dehra Dun
The Chairman of SCN has forwarded these pictures of 2GR veterans in Dehra Dun celebrating Delhi Day. He commented:
“
Due to the small number of Sirmooris both in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and Baklow, Himanchal Pradesh (HP) India, our veterans never had the opportunity to observe any of our Regimental Days in the past. As it was going to be our last Delhi Day as SCN this year we wanted them to celebrate as well as remember their fais and bhais with whom they served in Nepal, India and the Far East for so long, and also remember our ancesters who gave their lives in the Siege of Delhi in 1857.
On our request WO2 Satya Sagar Ghale 6 GR, GWTN Representative for British Gurkha veterans in Dehradun and HP, visited all our Sirmooris and Regimental Widows in Dehradun and contacted the two families in Baklow, HP., 450 km away. Due to their age and as they all live wide apart and for some for their health conditions it was not possible for them to gather at a place, They however celebrated the occasion on 14th September, the photographs speak for themselves.”
