This Day in History: 1824-09-27
A gang of dacoits or Goojars led by their notorious chief Kulwa, who had been terrorizing the Saharanpur District to the East of Dehra Dun, sacked the village of Bhagwantpur some 5km from Koonja. Dealing with this insurrection led to the new Regiment’s first battle, at Koonja in early October 1824.
