The Regimental History records: ‘At the Imperial Assemblage held at Delhi for the Proclamation of HM The Queen Victoria’s assumption of the title Empress of India, the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles and the 2nd Goorkhas were again placed in the positions held on the Ridge in 1857, while a guard from these two Corps was mounted over the recently erected monument on the Ridge commemorative of the siege’.
