This Day in History: 1897/10/20

The 1st Battalion took part in the second assault on the Heights of Dargai in the Tirah. It was a hard-fought battle in which the Battalion lost 2 British Officers, a Gurkha Officer and 15 Gurkha Other Ranks as well as having 50 men wounded. Fighting alongside the Gordon Highlanders, this action led to a close friendship between the 2 Regiments.
