Havildar Barna Sing Thapa of the 2nd Battalion won the King’s Medal shooting competition for India for the third time in 4 years (he was on leave in Nepal on the 4th occasion). His King’s Medal with 2 bars was in the 2nd Battalion’s British Officer’s Mess ante-room until the Regiment was merged into the Royal Gurkha Rifles in 1994.  It is now in the Gurkha Museum, Winchester.
