This Day in History: 1941-08-21

The 2nd Battalion entrained at Secunderabad en route for Bombay and thence by sea to Malaya. After fighting a hard withdrawal against the Japanese down the Peninsula to Singapore, they were captured and spent the rest of the war in captivity.  Click here for an account of the campaign.
