In the Arakan, D Company of the 4th Battalion took the surrender of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Regiment, 2nd (Gandhi) Division of the Indian National Army (INA), which had fought on the side of the Japanese during the war. To their surprise they found that the enemy’s armourer was a Sikh who had formerly been the armourer havildar (sergeant) of the 2nd Battalion of the 2nd Goorkhas.
