This Day in History: 1945-05-08

B Company of the 4th Battalion, commanded by Major P R Collins and part of ‘ Kitcol ‘ commanded by Lieutenant Colonel J A Kitson, supported by a squadron of tanks from the 3rd Dragoon Guards , a battery 9th Field Regiment RA and a section of Sappers & Miners, advanced towards the Pegu Yomas mountains and had a contact with the enemy at Alanzu, killing 17 Japanese.  2 Gurkhas were wounded .
