This Day in History: 1945-06-18

As the 4th Battalion pursued the retreating Japanese, the enemy mined a number of bridges over chaungs [streams].   A jeep from C Company (Major C Theed) was blown up, seriously wounding 2 Gurkhas.  In the absence of the Assault Pioneer Platoon the Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel J A Kitson, personally disarmed a number of mines.
