This Day in History: 1945-08-05
During the Second World War, the Regimental Centre in Dehra Dun managed the Battalions’ finances. At about this time the Commandant of the Centre reported that the 5 Battalions and the Centre were together worth Rps636,058, much of which had accrued during the War. This is about £2.9million today, adjusted for exchange rates and inflation. It did not include property and other assets owned by the Regiment in Dehra Dun, which amounted to another Rps 154,614 or about £700,000.
