This Day in History: 1960-10-18
Major Gordon MacDonald of the 1st Battalion took a contingent of the 2nd Goorkhas Regimental Band and a composite company of men from all Regiments to provide a Gurkha presence in the UK during the King and Queen of Nepal’s visit there. The contingent was reviewed at Buckingham Palace and Major MacDonald was awarded the Order of Gorkha Dakshin Bahu for his services.
