A shortage of British Officers and turbulence among other ranks led to Support Company of the 1st Battalion being disbanded. Each rifle company was given two 3-inch mortars and two MOBATs (anti-tank guns). The Machine Gun and Assault Pioneer Platoons were placed in HQ Company.
