This Day in History: 1979-07-09
The 2nd Battalion won the King’s Royal Rifle Corps Cup and Major Unit Shooting Championship at Bisley for the 3rd consecutive year, again making them the best shots in the British Army. It was described by the Colonel of the Regiment, General Sir Edwin Bramall as ‘a truly remarkable record and one which will be difficult to surpass.’ However, they did: the 2nd Battalion won the Championship again for an unprecedented fourth consecutive year in 1980.
